Amdocs SON

Amdocs SON solution helps mobile service providers autonomously optimize their radio access networks to improve the customer experience. As mobile network traffic continues to soar, Amdocs SON gives mobile service providers a market-proven solution that efficiently manages increasingly complex heterogeneous networks (HetNets), maximizes capacity utilization and improves network performance and quality for their customers.

Amdocs SON is:

  • Vendor-agnostic, with multi-technology support - delivers maximum impact regardless of network equipment provider or technology
  • Customer experience/value-driven - integrates market-leading business support systems (BSS) with SON to target optimization more effectively by subscriber location and value
  • Able to support 2G and 3G services as well as LTE - maximizes the value of existing network assets
  • Offered with a comprehensive range of services to integrate SON into existing equipment, operational/business support systems and processes - streamlines adoption while reducing operational risk

Amdocs SON is already successfully deployed at global service providers to help them deliver better network performance, data traffic improvements, improved capacity and near-real-time performance, especially during major sporting and cultural events. In Latin America, four mobile service providers are deploying the Amdocs SON solution, including TIM Brasil who will use Amdocs SON in select Brazilian cities hosting the World Cup soccer games to deliver an overall improved customer experience for visitors and citizens, before rolling it out to the whole country.

 CC SON

Amdocs SON is now supporting the next SON functionalities:

  • ANR - Automatic neighbor relations. The goal of automatic neighbor relation (self-configuration) is to minimize the manual handling of neighbor relations. The ANR functionality provides neighbor management for inter frequency (IFHO), intra frequency and Inter Radio Access Technology (IRAT) neighbor relationships and adjust neighbor priorities. The automatic neighbor relations may be added, deleted, or re-prioritized based on operator controlled policies.

  • LB - Load balancing. Traffic load balancing (self-optimization) feature shifts load from the capacity restricted resource to the cells with free capacity. Automatic load balancing functionality provides automatic modification of admission and congestion control parameters along with changes to neighbor parameter offsets.

  • SH - Self Healing. Cell outage detection and cell outage compensation (self-healing) compensates for loss of coverage or capacity in an outage situation. Self-healing is designed to react quickly for near real-time corrective actions.

  • APO - Automatic parameters optimization - Self configures parameters to provide best possible quality and capacity under given traffic environment.

  • PnP - Plug and Play - Automatically detects new sites and self configures the neighbors.

  • CCO - Coverage & capacity optimization (CCO) achieves the right balance between coverage and capacity minimizing unwanted coverage whilst ensuring sufficient needed coverage.
